PAGE, Himayatnagar Campus had its annual Sports Meet at the sprawling College of Physical Education, Gaganmahal on the 26th of November 2016. It was indeed more than a breather for both, the students, and the faculty after a hectic academic work out and this was pretty conspicuous from their active and whole-hearted participation in this sports extravaganza. The meet took off with our honourable Chief Guest, Most Rev. Fr Rayappa Reddy, Rector St Paul’s High School illuminating the lamp, unfurling the PAGE flag and then declaring the Sports Meet open. As this was in progress, a volley of gas balloons were let loose into the sky as a mark of liberty while Tejaswini and Mokshta’s inspirational song rendition rent the air beckoning the participants to let loose their traits and showcase their talent. Fr Rayappa Reddy, spoke at length on the need for such meets particularly at Junior college level and lauded the efforts of the PAGE group in encouraging and organizing such meets. Speaking to the media, our Principal, K Vasanth Kumari said that it was customary with Page group to conduct such meets in order to ease out the stress and bring about all-round development in students. Towards the afternoon, one of our Directors, Mr Sameer Kumar made his presence. After being introduced to all the players of the Cricket finals he wished them good luck. He left after the commencement of the match. Our special guests, Mr Sanjeev Rao, Physical Director, St Paul’s High School and Mr Amarnath, Physical Director, All Saints High School flagged off the 100 m and the 400 m run respectively. Both the physical directors were in awe that there are still colleges that encouraged such meets. The following events were held. Cricket, Foot ball, Volley ball, Basket ball, Badminton, Kho Kho, Kabbadi, 100 m and 400 m run. The best part of the meet was that there were more teams in almost every stream when compared to last year. All in all this day will be a day to treasure.
